On Saturday, young Bosnian scientist Semir Kahrimanovic gave an exciting scientific lecture to Bosnian schoolkids at The Abbey Center, Westminster, in London. Thank you, Semir Kahrimanovic, for the fantastic lectures and discussions! We learned a lot and benefited from your course! Thank you! (bio attached)
Hi, my name is Semir Kahrimanovic, and I work as a Geospatial Analyst in the battery and EV industry. I have an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and a master’s in Geospatial Science. I’ve worked in various roles in insurance, utility mapping, and digitising the London kerbside.
As a geospatial analyst, I am passionate about exploring and educating others on the role of geospatial sciences across various industries. Recently, I had the privilege of leading a lecture for students from the BH School London at the Abbey Centre at Westminster, discussing the significance of environmental and geospatial sciences within different sectors.
During the lecture, my focus was on connecting theoretical concepts with real-life examples and building a discussion on how subjects like maths, science, and geography can lead to a range of possibilities in degrees and eventual careers. I also specifically explained how geospatial data and technologies play a crucial role in analysing, predicting, and managing the environmental systems around us. I highlighted how we can apply such technologies to assist in effective disaster management planning, understand spatial connections in business, and explore the future of green technology within energy usage and demands.
The feedback from the students at the Bosnian supplementary school was overwhelmingly positive. The children showed keen interest in the topics discussed. Their curiosity and engagement throughout the lecture were truly encouraging. They asked insightful questions and actively participated in the discussion, expressing a desire for further exploration and learning about geography, climate change, and geospatial sciences. Witnessing their enthusiasm while engaging with topics such as energy and environmental protection was extremely gratifying and reassuring.
This experience has been immensely fulfilling as I had the opportunity to share my knowledge with future generations and ignite their curiosity about environmental and geospatial sciences. I eagerly anticipate future opportunities for collaboration.
Best regards,
Semir
